My jewellery making courses are still proving popular with three bookings this month. Word must be getting around, one person is coming up from Kidderminster!
Inspired by my Japanese Taiko drumming, I have created a range of silver pendants based on the Shinto tomoe symbol. The three comma design is a common logo associated with Taiko drumming.
Finally, a big thankyou to everyone who came to see me at Crosby Hall earlier this month

New for 2008 is a metal called palladium. Bright and naturally white this precious metal has a lower weight than platinum, meaning that larger pieces can be made at a lower cost. It is a tough metal that can sustain heavy wear without cracking. Cheaper than platinum it usually costs a bit less than 18ct white gold. The alloy contains no nickel, good news for allergy sufferers. Unfortunately Palladium is new to jewellery and cannot at present be hallmarked. So if you want some jewellery making using a cutting edge material then give me a call!

My ‘One to One’ jewellery weekend courses have produced some interesting responses. Expecting interest mainly from couples who wanted make each others wedding rings, I have recently taught an Arts teacher who wanted to extend her skills to pass on to her students, and I have also taught new techniques to a very gifted 12 year old who is already making beaded jewellery and has his own web-site! It is very satisfying for me to be able to nurture so much talent and creativity, and fantastic to feel that I can inspire others to follow a career in jewellery design. If you are interested in trying out jewellery making but do not want to commit to a whole weekend of tuition, I now do one day ‘taster’ sessions.
